No signal | high schoolers (and middle schoolers) hear me out... When was the last time you actually learned something in an English class? I haven't learned shit in forever. 6th grade and after its all just been "read this old book that nobody your age has ever even heard of before, then answer 20 questions a chapter." Last year I read a couple books about the Civil War and they were really good, "Soldier's Heart" and "Across Five Aprils"

English from 1st to 8th grade is called grammar school.

The rest after that is understanding literature, fictional or nonfictional, finding what the message is in each one, finding out how you can figure out the messages in other literary works, and forming your own arguments.

Of course, only the last one is actually meaningful in the long run.
