I hate to be ‘that guy’, and I know it’s a joke, but it’s really not okay to belittle artists who believe their art is worth more than ten bucks. Art takes time. Just think, if I charged a dollar an hour for my art, I’d make close to 20 dollars per work. Art is worth more than a dollar an hour. Let’s say five dollars an hour, for about 18 hours, (if you want a good work of art!) you’re looking at upwards of 90 bucks!!
Artists are people too, and we have to make a living as well! I’m not only running an online shop and taking art commissions, but we need extra jobs just to support what we love to do! In total, I have my shop, my art, and the church I work for, just to save money to publish a book.
So next time you see an artist charging that much for a YCH, please know that their art is probably paying their bills.
Please just have some sympathy and try not to bash artists for charging what their art is worth.
