So what do you think? Were "red" and "orange" being bigots? Should they have been banned? What about the other people?

From these messages it looks like the mods where a little quick to ban, both red and orange seemed to be acting reasonable and there could have been a constructive discussion that would leave them more educated.
Neither seemed to be extremely troll like, and I wouldn’t have banned them right there

Neither of them are troll like. They've never been. Red has a bunch of unpopular opinions (like "you should think before changing your gender", which you just saw...), but she does respect other peoples opinions. She also doesn't hate on anyone. She is, however, vocal about her opinions, which ngl is annoying.
I don't know Orange well at all, but they seem to be nice enough.

Green, the mod who banned both of them, is extremely quick to ban when he thinks any comment could possibly be against LGBTQ. He also doesn't let people explain if their comment wasn't meant to be offensive. He banned me once for accidentally deadnaming someone that I wasn't aware was trans or even disliked her (his? their? idk) name.

I think everyone (except maybe Green) was being completely reasonable.
I also think this argument could've been avoided if someone had just told Red and Orange *why* they were "transphobic", because they clearly didn't understand, and ngl I don't either. Could you possibly explain that to me?

I agree completely with everything you just said.
I think it could be seen has transphobic if it was interpreted as them saying people’s genders could not change. That would invalidate people who are gender fluid or have identity’s similar to gender fluid.
Also saying stuff like “changing your name and gender whenever you feel like it” is commonly associated with transphobic trolls.
Of course nobody actually said anything transphobic, or ban worthy. At most I would have monitored the conversation in case things go south, and/or asked for clarification. Only because of the small details.

I think someone needs to have a talk to green about being more careful with bans and if they can’t do that, they really shouldn’t have mod.

The moderation in this server is terrible - someone broke literally every rule related to "don't insult people" or "don't say these words" absolutely hating on someone who made a homophobic joke, but they said "he deserved it" and got away with it. It's honestly ridiculous... I left the server.

And people say I’m strict 💀

I think it might be a disconnect between trans and fluid. Some people who are more just to a static binary gender system are understanding of the concept of mtf or ftm trans people, but less understanding and or more judgmental towards enby or fluid people for "not just picking one".

Might have something to do with it there, but again not offering any explanation and silencing people immediately hurts your cause a lot more than it helps it.
