Have you ever worked in a unionized workplace? I have, and it was a freaking nightmare. The union never did jack about any concerns we brought up, and we couldn’t bring them to the company either as we had to go through a union rep to get anything addressed per our contract. Plus, god forbid if you were new because anyone with seniority would trample all over you, taking your vacation picks or sticking you with all the forced overtime because they could never bring in enough staff. Even in the worst non unionized places I’ve worked, seniority never gave you the ability to push a newer person around, we were all in this together and had to do our part. If being in a union works out for you, go for it, but leave us who can negotiate better ourselves out of it.
