I don't play or listen to jazz, but being a pianist, I have learned a thing or two

I'm mostly just a vocalist. I can't read music at all. XD My wife can though. I can drum by ear a bit, but that's about it.

It is most often written into music in a jazz piece, when the music is to switch between a swing timing, which makes the music bounce a bit, to a straight timing, which is just the music as written
