Yeah, dragon type used to be cool, rare and powerful. In Generation One in particular you had to hunt down a Dratini or Dragonair in the Safari Zone. Not only would Charizard be resistant to Water, but also a metric ton of other types. And fire would block dragon's only legit weakness in Gen 1, Ice.
