Absolutely! Those who know they are fools are only half a fool.
We are all fools.
I like Walt Whitman‘s “where he said “we are all ignorant, just on different subjects.”
His use of the word ignorant doesn’t mean stupid, it just simply means “don’t know better or haven’t been taught differently.”
So true.
If I don’t laugh at myself I’m just choking on ego. Chocked so full of that nasty thing we call pride which comes before every fall.
It baffles me that as we hurdle through “infinite” space on a mote of space dust we call “earth” that is heated by a giant fireball we call “the sun” that appears for several hours a day and what we call “the sky “that any of us are arguing about anything. You think the absolute terror of that would bring us together and help us connect with each other and love each other but no. We fight over stupid things like money and religion. We even kill each other over it. It’s baffling to me. We argue about things we know nothing about, hurt and harm each other, destroy our home (the earth) destroy each other. It’s so ignorant but that’s the world for ya.
As one great teacher said “wear the world has a loose garment.”
I’m a householder Buddhist monk who can’t understand the savagery of humans even tho I understand it.
My job here:
Love others. Be kind. Be helpful and serve my brothers and sisters.
Meditate so that love is the primary intention driving the body’s actions and the minds mental states.
I laugh at myself constantly, been doing it for 51 years. Had to first be humbled into understanding that o am special and unique as a grain of sand on a beach of over 8 billion other grains, each as important as me.
It’s just simple equality.
