So... what exactly is a furry?

Because everyone seems to have very strong opinions about furrys when all I've seen them do is draw people with cat ears etc. I think I'm missing something here...

Most of the hate comes from cringe, misconceptions(the common one being that ALL furries are zoophiles and/or want to be animals, when it's really just a minority), someone having a bad experience with someone who just so happens to be a furry and pushing it onto the rest of the fandom, or just absolutely no reason at all.

Of course, I cannot deny that the fandom does have a dark side, as nearly every other fandom does. Nothing in the world can be perfect.

ugh, I hate stereotypes that often changes peoples perspective of things, like anime, all the sudden it's "UGLY ASS PORN AND HENTAI" like... why. Furries are part of this of their own stereotype and it's really annoying.

A furry is a fan of anthromorphic animal characters.
(anthromorphic: Described or thought of as having a human form or human attributes, ascribing human characteristics to nonhuman things)
