Bill Clinton’s still alive and he has, in fact, been #MeTooed out of the modern Democratic Party, pretty much. Despite his fairly popular and successful Presidency, it’s striking how little he is discussed or remembered or even asked for on the campaign trail.
Similarly, George W. Bush — despite being the only two-term Republican President since Reagan — is all but completely shunned by the GOP of today.
Joe Biden held basically all the same stances Bill Clinton held back in the day, but has indeed moved to the Left along with the trajectory of the rest of the Party.
Donald Trump was, famously, a Democrat, then ran for the Reform Party (whatever that was) in 2000, before becoming such a Republican in the 2010s that he ended up singlehandedly redefining what being a Republican meant.
Tony Blair in Britain was hugely popular in his time, won 3 elections, now everyone despises him.
And Ronald Reagan would maybe, maaaaybe have a place in the modern GOP, if he were still alive, as a Mitt Romney-like moderate Senator.
Parties change! Politicians change! That’s my only point.
