Ok, cause at the end of the forest, you find out your son was used in a sacrifice to bring another child to life using some sort of weird artifact, who quickly mutates and kills the person who brought them back to life, then it mutates again to try to kill you. After killing that child, you attempt to use it to bring back your own, but you can’t because you need a living child. After that you go to a second room with a second artifact and something tracking a plane flying into the area. Your options are:
1. Disable the weapon: which results in the plane flying away and the cycle being broken. You burn up a photo of your child, it’s unclear whether you escape or not when I looked at the ending.
2. Bring down the plane that has three kids on it: After bringing down the plane, presumably at least one child was left alive, allowing you to resurrect your son. You two later appear on a talk show where your son has an attack and almost mutates, then in another cutscene when the son is now an adult, it’s implied he mutates or almost mutates again but it cuts to the credits.
