I don't know the particulars of your city or city council, of course.
But more generally, democrats in charge mean the most basic human rights, as so wisely defined in the Bill of Rights, are continually under attack. Events in recent years clearly demonstrate that the democrat party is the driving force behind censorship, repression of religion, and a relentlessly Orwellian control of society.
Naturally, they'll respond with their various outrages about real (state laws) or imagined (the recent Supreme Court ruling) restrictions against killing their own infant children. But that, as much as anything else, tells us all we need to know about them.
