Hands are a pain to draw, what I usually do is just draw a box(more accurately 4 sided shape) in the rough shape of what I want the hand to look like then add the hand details.(1) Upper body and waist depends on what you are going for, if you want a more feminine shape then do the curvy line things(2). And for a more masculine lookin body, I usually start with a two rectangles then smooth it out(3).
