FUN FACT (and I learned it on Hodge Podge Lodge on PBS - the greatest show ever - when I was a tiny Modda!). The blue in Blue Jay feathers comes not from pigments but light refraction caused by the feathers's structure. If you find a feather and place it in vinegar, it'll look dark grey, no blue at all. Hence why they look less blue during cloudy days,,,
