Maybe just for a few minutes they will be editable. Cuz they might erase toxic comments hiding the evidence.

but usually when you edit comments, the comment would say if it has been edited or not
So if the Toxic Comment's gone, and someone got called out
You would kinda see that it use to be a toxic comment?

Only if the entire original text was available for review....so people can't alter their comments in order to win debate.

That sort of thing has been going on at Facebook for years. post-edited comments to win arguments is a thing.

If I catch the error soon enough, I just copy the text, delete the reply, then paste and repost it with corrections made.

But a limited time edit button would indeed be more convenient.
