You can thank the environmentalcases for plastics. Seriously, everyone was doing fine with paper and glass. Then these people started to say both were 'dangerous to the planet'. Well the switch was made and here we are today. Stuck with a product that just won't decompose and its recycling worth is frankly less than glass.

It takes a lot of oil to make plastic. Wonder why we haven't made the switch to plant based containers, or the waxed paper jugs. I don't think it was a set of people who thought plastics were better, more like corporate thugs and the scientist who made plastics, but even plastics were developed in the industrial age. So there you go.
