"Raven Stole the Moon" by Tlingit author Garth Stein is about a woman whose child died. She returns to Alaska - her tribal homeland where the tragedy occurred - looking for
closure, only to find a mystery. A shaman hints that things are not so clear cut & her son's
fate is actually in the hands
of the Kushtaka (otter spirits).
