Canada, Mexico, and the United States make up the continent North America - which is where the United States of America gets it's name. The States of America are made up of 50 States of America - that are United. These States have counties in the state that separate the state into districts of the state. Those counties can have many cities and townships in the counties - as cities are parts of counties - and the counties are parts of the states - 50 which make up the United States of America, a country that borders Canada and Mexico. Those three countries which make up North America - the continent.
