Sure it did , like you said - Battlefield tactics. And even then you could only fire a round every few seconds. The founding fathers had no idea about high capacity rapid fire rifles. That kid over here fired 70 rounds in 4 seconds. That’s great for a war zone, but not for hunting or civilian use.
0 ups, 2y
the difference was it allowed you to hit targets for the first time at extended ranges. You don't need a high rate of fire to kill lots of people ask Charles Whitman, and Aaron Alexis. For the record you could kill lots of people with a 12 lb Napoleon cannon which was coming onto the scene and yes an individual could own one. Last he did not fire 70 rounds in 4 seconds he had at least 3 magazine reloads.

It wasn’t until 1847 that there was a gun made that could commit mass murder quickly. And the forefathers had no concept of that. Hell, when the first steam train was built “experts” said a human couldn’t travel at 30 miles per hour , it would kill them. So much for folks in the 1700’s being able to see into the future.

Actually, the Ferguson Breach loading rifle made its debut in 1776 and compared to the Brown Bess it was deadly assault gun.

It’s not the range it’s the speed at which you can put bullets down range that make it able to commit mass murder quickly. And the founding fathers had no concept of that at the time.

the Ferguson breech loading rifle tripled the rate of fire and dramatically increased the accuracy of the shooters fire.. Charles Whitman killed 14 and wounded 23 with a slow firing bolt action rifle, Juan Corna killed 26 people with a machete, Darrell E. Brooks killed 5 and wounded 40 with a Toyota Rav four, Lahouaiej-Bouhlel killed 84 and wounded 436 with a delivery truck.

Again, it’s simple physics. The more bullets that one can fire in the shortest amount of time translates into more dead when these whack jobs snap. I don’t more than 5 rounds in a mag to accomplish hunting needs or home protection needs. If someone needs a 30 round mag to go hunting then they probably don’t know how to handle their weapon and shouldn’t own one.

It’s not up to you to decide how much firepower a person wants to own to defend their home and family.
0 ups, 2y
the answer is not to secure 300 million guns it's to secure 3 million insane killers , they will kill with or without guns.
0 ups, 2y,

Oh I have plenty , our forefathers had no idea the kind of firepower we would unleash on ourselves. Which makes it even more strange why the right are so against any substantive background mental health checks. Seems like they would want to stop these far right cowards from killing innocent folks. It only reflects poorly on them and their voters. And it only motivates more folks to vote blue because the overwhelming majority of the country are on board with common sense universal background checks. The only folks that aren’t on board are the gop and the nra. Almost like they enjoy watching kids get shot. So much for being pro life, right?

we don't oppose background checks we just doubt your sincerity to use them to disarm the insane and not your political opposition. Tour states record regarding your homie Crimo would indicate no interest on the part of blue states to use background checks to disarm the insane since his ilk advance your agenda. It is not red states fault your Illinois refuses to enforce existing guns laws which are directed at the insane and criminal minded.

Universal background checks set up at the federal level would help. I hope you never have to see it firsthand in Iowa but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Until the right stop cramming hate and division down their unstable supporters throats this isn’t going to stop. Every democrat I know hunts and owns guns. I’ve never hear any of them ever suggest the need to use them against fellow Americans. Yet tune into any right wing propaganda site or MAGA site and you will hear it repeatedly. Civil war! We gotta use our guns to silence our political opponents ! And that is why the overwhelming majority of the country agree with universal background checks at the minimum.
0 ups, 2y
Why would Universal background checks set up at the federal level help any more than those that Illinios has. The federal Goverment is nothing more than Illinois on steroids

Well the democrats been trying to pass common sense laws to prevent these incidents, but the gop just refuses to protect folks. It’s like the republicans want these shootings to happen.

Illinois already had these laws and did NOTHING anyway! Most Big cities have laws on the books that add additional jail time when a gun is used in a crime but the DA's refuse to add the enhanced prison time. Illinois has the strictest gun laws in the country but has a homicide rate 160% higher per capita than Iowa which has the highest rate of gun ownership in the country. Face it there is something mentally wrong with the people living in Chicago and big cities.
0 ups, 2y,

Oh I live in Illinois. I own more guns than I probably need. So what’s the problem with mental health background checks? And yes we have a crazy homicide rate but 99 percent of that is gang violence against each other. It’s not some kid that got radicalized listening to pro trump far right nonsense or Tucker Carlson white replacement crap.
1 up, 2y,
1 reply
If 99 percent of that is gang violence, how are national red Flag laws and disarming people in Iowa with no criminal records going to fix Illinois gun crime problem
0 ups, 2y,
1 reply
Oh it won’t. The only way to fix our problem here in Chicago is to start to charge the straw buyers that come in from Indiana with a trunk load of guns and sell them to the gang members. Personally I’m at a point where we should just wall off certain areas and let the gangs kill each other off. Like I said I’m a Hunter and a gun owner. But I see no problems with more stringent background checks. If you have nothing to hide and want to own a gun then what’s wrong with that.
0 ups, 2y,

Straw Gun Buying that's already a federal offense and like using a gun to commit a felony DA's refuse to enforce laws on the books and the DOJ is to busy investigating mothers that call BOE members "stupid heads" as domestic terrorists.

Our DA in Chicago is a joke. I moved about 40 miles west of the city over 25 years ago. But the stew buyers are what is fueling the gun violence in the city

actually, it's not the guns it's the mental state of those that use them on each other, does not happen in Iowa

Well I don’t think he needs a confession lol. Those idiots were stupid enough to record themselves attempting to stop congress. Pretty sure now it’s just a matter of who is a flight risk and who is still too deeply indoctrinated into the right’s election lies that they are still a threat to police or members of congress or lord knows what the next conspiracy theory will be that sets them into a frenzy.
0 ups, 2y
then why is he still holding hundreds of people with court dates or bail? The guy that went to assonate Kavanaugh goes to trial in August?

Oh man we must’ve watched two different segments. He was crying about white young men feeling guilty and of course women also contribute to that feeling. Feeling marginalized? If they feel that way it’s only because Tucker and his kind are constantly telling their viewers that the scary brown people or scary gay people or scary women are taking over. Giving other folks the same rights as us doesn’t take any of our rights away. But considering that Tucker also said shortly after the census came out the white people were becoming a minority in this country therefore our votes should count as two because our voices were being diluted. Of course his most unstable viewers are going to act on it. Just like trumps most unstable supporters acted on his lies about the election and attacked the Capitol. You fill unstable folks heads with nonsense and then sit there questioning why they snapped. Ridiculousness
0 ups, 2y
well he mentioned that they know they will never have the lives their parents had economically, they are significantly less likely to go to college than their sister and are much more likely to go to prison, become addicted, or die of suicide. Not only that if they are white, but they must also pay for the sins of a bunch of dudes from 160 years ago.
0 ups, 2y,

I don’t know man I’m pretty white, I’m not paying for anyone else’s sins and I feel no guilt about something from 160 years ago. But I’m not a sensitive snowflake either.

good job... why the Virgin Islands I did not think they would have a Vet school there, not many pets and too small for much of a livestock industry

Yeah it doesn’t seem fair. Maybe the case against that guy was cut and dry. I know that a fair amount of the January 6th folks have cooperated in some ways. That guy that wanted to kill the judge is facing far worse consequences I’d imagine. I think most the January 6th folks that are still locked up are also the ones that are facing the most serious charges. A lot have been cut loose on bond or house arrest or no charges were filed.
0 ups, 2y
so why has there been no trial date established for those still in jail, if guys with a 1.5 million Fentynal pills can get bond, why not people the goverment is afraid of trying to make a case against?
0 ups, 2y,
1 reply
Just look at the threats the members of the January 6th committee are receiving. Look at the threats the Republican witnesses that have testified are receiving. That’s all far right pro trump Tucker viewers. That isn’t BLM or democrats making those threats. Again, full unstable minds with lies and conspiracy theories and then sit back and watch the violence. So if universal background checks keep guns out of the hands of just 10 percent of the crazy folks hands then it’s well worth it. Whether the crazy is left or right.
0 ups, 2y
great then Merrick Garland needs to get his fascist ass out there and actually make a case against somebody and not just hold them in jail with bail or trial date until they confess
0 ups, 2y,

I don’t think anyone is afraid to make a case. I think when you’re dealing with a crime of that size involving that many defendants, well I don’t know if that’s ever been done before. Those courts gotta be packed all day everyday. The case has already been established by the defendants own videos and pictures and social media in most cases . Again, I’m sure many are being held as they are still a threat to the public or they are flight risks or both. I mean there’s only so many courtrooms and judges and public defenders and prosecutors in that district. Again, they are part of an attack against our government. They should’ve considered the possibility that they would be sitting in a cell one day for their actions that day.
0 ups, 2y
It’s bullshit political oppression.
0 ups, 2y
The courts are not packed at all, either you confess, or you rot in prison forever without trial. It takes three minutes to accept a plea bargain and sentence somebody go to your local municipal court some time it's a factory for plea bargain and dropped charges
0 ups, 2y,
1 reply
I used to live in Cook County. I know how slow the courts work. I spent enough time in them. And I sat myself for 9 months awaiting trial. And I didn’t try to overthrow the government. And there wasn’t 1000 other idiots with me when I was arrested for the same crime. Again, when you know you’re breaking the law you should also know that there is a chance you will get caught. And you will sit, in a cell, waiting.
0 ups, 2y
So the right to a speedy trail only applies to attempted Supreme court assassins?
0 ups, 2y
No I think it’s a much more serious offense and it’s in a different state that the courts aren’t overloaded and under staffed due to a thousand folks deciding to attack the Capitol based on lies. Again I’m not sure our justice system has ever had to deal with a case this big before. So, like the attempted coup itself, this is all new . I’m sure every one of those defendants want to make sure everything is done legally and fair. Wouldn’t want to rush to violate anyones rights and possibly lock up the wrong people. And unfortunately in this country it’s all too often that folks are guilty until proven innocent. Folks all around the country been locked up in county jails a lot longer for a lot less of a crime. No bond or can’t afford it, so they sit and wait.
0 ups, 2y,

And there was Tucker last night saying that the real problem is women! Women make the young white men go nuts and shoot up a parade or church or school. And there you see where the mental problem starts. Folks that are already unstable being fed a steady diet of lies and hate by the right and right wing media until they snap. And the left has its own instigators. AOC brings nothing to any discussion but problems and if a Supreme Court judge ends up getting g hurt she should be held accountable too
0 ups, 2y
It's not what he said, and you know it. he said that men 18-35 have a higher incidence of violence because they have been marginalized, and druged with mood altering drugs like no other generation in history. There is a direct correlation between the use of modern pot, and psychotropic mood drugs by killers involved in mass shootings. The New York times even reported that regular use of today's pot which is 56-10 times stronger stunts mental developer by the user.
