NopeiFirst, of course, the national anthem began as a poem written by Francis Scott Key in September 1814, after he witnessed the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Maryland during the War of 1812 (which lasted until early 1815). Francis Scott Key wrote the poem that makes up the lyrics of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

It was born from an English drinking song, and Key wrote the lyrics to that tune. Then the SSB in America became a patriotic song when raising flags or other ceremonies.

In 1916, Woodrow Wilson wanted to make it the national anthem, but it didn’t become that until 1929.
