When I was Western Regional Director for the VA, I met many people like Ms. Hutchinson. They were political appointees, who worked hard for a campaign or party, landing a good job when their party or candidate won. We referred to them as "Schedule C's," which was the section of Title Five that allowed them to be employed non-competitively. Most of them were levelheaded, intelligent and qualified for the job they held. Few had the courage I witnessed today.
The Tangerine Traitor and his Trolls have and will continue to attack Ms. Hutchinson, her credibility and the quality of her information. Given the physical location of her office, her political connections and the poise with which she testified, both in person and on tape, she is a highly credible witness. Unfortunately, she has no value as a Schedule C employee anymore and the job market for her is probably limited.
Back in "the day," I helped one Schedule C employee from the President's cabinet who landed in LA after an embarrassing story appeared in Time Magazine which featured a pet (sexist) nickname the Secretary gave her. I knew the source for the story, and it was not her. Only her Father being a bigshot in the Mormon Church and Utah GOP, kept her from being fired outright. Her new Boss' staff was screwing with her. I intervened and softened their resistance to her. She was a Republican; I am a Democrat. She was "Schedule C," and I was Civil Service. But we both worked for the Secretary, and I knew her heart was in the right place.
My suspicions about the Tangerine Traitor's abusive behavior were confirmed today. The example of his throwing dishes and upsetting the dining table by pulling the tablecloth were bad enough. Hearing about his grabbing the steering wheel of his limo, in a fit of pique then attacking his Secret Service Agent for trying to stop him made the point, period.
If every Schedule C employee told everything they witnessed the Tangerine Traitor do, his Trolls would still post lame responses from right wing bloggers/extremist media and attack me.
