"That is not to be quoted. I mean by that that initially the SS people were special sons of bitches, but as the war progressed they ran out of sons of bitches and then they put anybody in there. Some of the top SS men will be treated as criminals, but there is no reason for trying someone who was drafted into this outfit."

Oh look, you left out the part of the quote that completely went against the point you were trying to make!

Maybe you should have listened to the guy and not quoted him.

See, you miss a key difference. The SS troops in the latter half of the war WERE drafted. They didn't choose freely. The opposite is true for Democrats. You can't be drafted to be a Democrat. You choose to be, like the SS troops who volunteered to be SS before the war and at it's beginning.

Oops.

No, YOU'RE missing the point. He was saying that by the end of the war, they were a wet bag of nobodies nothing like what they were to begin with, and THAT'S what he was equating to a Democrat.

You want to argue? Argue with General Patton.

The jokes on you, because either way you look at it, he's insulting Democrats. But I don't know where you got that notion from it as I think he's pretty clear.

... the joke's on me because of the well-documented historical knowledge that General Patton hated Democrats? I knew that already. But EVEN HE wasn't calling Democrats Nazis - he was calling the last remnants of Nazi opposition Democrats.

THAT'S the joke. And you didn't get it.

LOL
It seems you just want to be contrary. What you're saying is basically "he's comparing oranges to apples, not apples to oranges." You're just reversing the terms.

I'm really, really not. Read the full quote for as long as you need to. Take your time. It's not rocket science here, he was calling the SS a bunch of pansies, not the Democrats a bunch of authoritarian paramilitaries.

My friend, please practice what you preach. Where are you getting that idea from? I reread that quote and it still supports my (and the OP's) interpretation. What the quote you posted is saying is that people who were drafted into the SS shouldn't be treated as war criminals.

Ain't your friend and no it doesn't.

... So even by your own analysis, you've basically reached the conclusion that Democrats are no war criminals. The intent of the OP was to make them sound like they are. Refer all further disputes to either the OP or to the late Patton himself.

Also, either way you look at it, he is either calling Democrats criminals or "a wet bag of nobodies". Both conclusions are valid because the Democrats fulfill both of those roles.

Refer all further disputes to either the OP or to the late Patton himself. I can't change what he said to make it fit what you're saying, you'll have to do that yourself.

That's... Exactly what you're doing.

You don't say?!
It's an expression, dude.

I don't see where you're getting that conclusion from as I think I was pretty clear, as was General Patton.
