True story, before I entered the service, I dated a city girl. I took her out to see where I grew up and she made a comment about a neighbor and how she hated to see people living in poverty (He lived in a small log home). I remember laughing and telling her how many 100's of thousands of dollar's worth of equipment she was looking at and explaining that he owned more land than she ever would.

I hear that, lol! My mother's family owned a beef cattle and tobacco farm. I remember my city-born sister-in-law shaking her head and saying oh, that must have been rough growing up hungry. I just shook my head.

Lol, got to love ignorance. I got mistaken for a homeless man once when I stopped at a fast-food place, the manager gave me the meal free. I was nasty from working on a tractor, needed a part. I thought that I was far enough from a big city to appear like any working man, guess not.

I was making six figures at the time, but a free meal is a free meal and everyone in the place thought they were helping me out, so I just thanked them and went on about my day. My co-workers didn't believe me when I told them about it, but I explained to them the weekend me stayed dirty and busy. I think I am happier covered in dirt, I have always liked to work on my own equipment.
