Gun sales have been way up since the pandemic started. Boredom? Fear of imminent societal collapse? Who knows?

But yeah gun sales also go up after mass shootings and every time a Democrat’s face is shown on FOX News.

Any time there's a Big Ticket News Item that activates certain people's fear responses - regardless of whether gun legislation ever passed or was even being considered - gun sales spike.

So idk? Stop watching the news, I guess? Nobody ever came for the guns. And they're still not coming for the guns.

But by all means let's replenish our armories every time a Democrat gets on TV after dozens of children are killed to say, hey, maybe we should perhaps possibly one day get around to maybe but probably not doing something about this.

Chicago is 40 minutes down the road from a gun-friendly jurisdiction (Indiana). Local gun control is a joke. It must be done nationally to be effective. Don't look at Chicago, look at Japan.

Canada however is comparable to the U.S. in a lot of ways — dense urban areas as well as well as wide open spaces; frontier culture, lots of hunters, lots of bears, legitimate needs for firearms. Canada actually has a higher share of immigrants than we do.

Canada’s not the best country in the world for gun safety, but doing at least as well as Canada should be feasible. That would require us to slash gun deaths to about 20% of what they are now. Tall order? Maybe. But that’s a lot of lives we could be saving.

you do realize suicides by gun are included in that statistic right? Off the top of my head, correct me if I'm wrong, Japan has a higher suicide rate than the US even without the guns, so even if you could get rid of all the guns, most of those deaths are still going to happen by another means, just like in Japan

and don't act like I don't know there are downsides to having a crap ton of guns in civilian hands, but when I compare that to the alternative, I'd rather have this. Don't be so naive and act like the US is so special that no sort of genocide from our government or another country's could never happen.

Criminals come in all sorts of different flavors. If San Francisco decides they would rather arrest and release the same guy a dozen times for minor auto burglary then that may be annoying to citizens (to the point they actually recalled the prosecutor over stuff like this) but it doesn’t really speak to the gun issue.
