Having shot the Colt 1911, in a burglar situation, I would assume at close range, you should be able to blast away and get some sort of result.! :~)

It usually works the first round. I run a Hi-Point JHP-45, which successfully outperformed my older brother's Springfield 1911. Anyway, the .45 ACP round, it's not really stopping power, so much as it is going the other way power.
