It's an SMP Grian did before he joined Hermitcraft. I suggest you watch it if you want to understand. While Hermitcraft is one set of lore and stories, Evo is a completely separate one that is connected to the Last life series. So technically, the rift isn't the watchers canonically, but everyone is just ignoring that.
