If you want to find someone's motives look at their actions.
When the nazis started to lose the second world War, what did hitler do. He increased his industrialized murder machine. He could have used those resources to try to win the war, but instead he used his precious last resources to destroy people that could have helped him fight. When someone says that hitlers goal was world domination they have no proof of that. If you look at his actions his goal was clearly the destruction of all of Europe.
So what do the Ukrainian action tell us about their motives? It really looks like to me that their goal is to prolong the war for as long as possible to steal as much money as possible.
