I believe that when people say they don't like immigrants, they mean they don't like non-white people and they then accuse people of being immigrants purely based on their skin tone. You saw tons of people claiming that Obama was an immigrant, but nobody was saying the same about Trump. Also, Trump said he wanted to be tougher on immigration, but that was only targeted at countries with majority non-white populations. You didn't see Trump telling his wife to leave even though she was an immigrant.
