For an online service, the Switch Online service(s) are good. 20$ for the regular and 50$ for premium, just 1 PS5 game before tax is that for around 150 games (62 for NES, 53 for SNES, 15 for N64 and 24 for Sega Genesis, so 148 games all emulated from the ground up). But while thats nice, I do think there should be an option for a separate purchase as many people (not myself included, I find this fine and a good way to try out games without buying them 100% fully) want the Virtual Console since you can own the games on it fully. Now Nintendo doesn't NEED to get rid of the Online Service, but maybe have 2 options for a Virtual Console and keep the Online Service so everyone can be pleased on either side, and the pricing should go something like this:
NES: 3 Dollars
SNES: 5 Dollars
N64: 8 Dollars
Sega Genesis: 6 Dollars
Now while it may not happen, there is a possible hint to it. For example, the Neo-Geo game Biomotor Unitron is on the EShop (https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/nintendo-switch-lite-oled-stealth-release-1999-classic/) and thats a possible sign that this may happen. Also we are getting 2 Directs, so maybe in one of them they can announce the return of the Virtual Console (and also make their fans happy and their stock could go up, so possible bussiness gain) since the Wii U and 3DS one is closing, and I don't see why they need 2 Directs this summer when (I'm pretty sure) it was only 1 and for E3. But if this doesn't happen, last chance would be on the Switch's deathbed, they release the Virtual Console on it and then allow it to continue after the EShop closes.
