The bad - Japan is morally and militarily superior than the rest of the planet. . .including the one that kicked its ass in WW2.
The ugly - Mangaka has a funny idea of what constitutes a military recon spec-op team including a Ranger squad. . .they don't include TANKS. . .EVER! They kind of ruin the whole 'stealth' thing recon teams are known for.
Mangaka has a nationalistic (Japan) streak a mile long and does it ever show in the manga. It got to the point even the Japanese readers began to call him on what they felt was pure BS when to countries like the US.
He thought a US President can order an illegal CIA operation inside an ally's country. There are things like the House and Senate Intelligence Committees that always have a member that will try to block a president's attempt at ordering a mission like that(rightfully or wrongly). And in this case they would be in the right to stop the president. Also the manga/anime president was Bush II(or Trump according to many) instead of Obama who was president when the manga started in 2011. There's also a creepy loli x old man pairing going on. . .hopefully it ends up being one sided because the loli is just suffering survivors guilt.

Final verdict - If you can ignore the lame attempts as 'real life global politics' then it's a darn great read.

Ranger squads aren't always about recon, some are outfitted for frontline combat, some are sniper squads, and plus, the ranger squad is part of the JSDF, an army, so its gonna have tanks.
