I remember a popular cartoon character named snagglepuss. Besides the pink fur, his voice, mannerisms & hobbies all hinted at the same thing. He was given a girlfriend, but I doubt that fooled anyone. Looking back now I'm amazed that they got away with it on children's TV back then.
