Musk says he’s committed to allowing criticism of him and his companies on Twitter, since “that’s what free speech means,” but we’ll have to see how far that goes in reality.
As a boss, Musk is known for not reacting well to criticism. Screaming and firing people on the spot. Never giving an inch in court cases even when evidence against him is pretty substantial.
Imagine a SpaceX employee using Twitter to blow the whistle on suspected safety violations in an upcoming rocket launch. Is she really going to do that? What would be her legal protections? Given Musk’s history — would she more likely self-censor, or not tweet about it at all?
