Other than a reply, there isn't a good way to know if a memechat was read or not.

A user can delete their part of memechat(s) though.

I just tested it, finally got it! (a tad tricky with my hybrid tablet w/keyboard)
Just sometimes I regret getting too long winded with the personal whining so I'd rather delete before they see it.
