It's because they think the government is the promise land here to save them from people who hurt them in the past. They're fused with the remnant neocons and is shows. After years of knowing big pharma kept the racist drug war going, they're suddenly going to forget all their predecessors' animosity towards big corporations, establishment media, and military industrial complex's government for billionaires. Trump's mean tweets were too much for them, but not the past 20 years of imperialism and warmongering. Suddenly those families separated at the border, income inequality, and what leads to police militarization and misconduct just vanishes when we get somebody in charge that has a bit of decorum.
I'm not trying to carry water for Trump, but the left doesn't care about what he actually did that was right or wrong. That's what *I* care about. I care about whether he kept the wheels rolling on being an empire abroad and police state at home. They care about the fact he said stupid stuff online.
The left cares more about winning a culture war and busting peoples' balls into submission more than actually helping poor people, making the economy better for everybody, or stopping war.
When the left realizes they got Trump elected more than any Russia or Racist, I can breathe a sigh of relief. When they realize that they really hate him for the wrong reasons (hiding behind some debatably valid criticisms as camouflage) we can start to have sincere conversations again.
Till then they're just Warmongering Corporate NeoCons that have adopted a tribalistic, cultish take on cultural marxism and political correctness.
