But he's the protaginist, a villian isnt exactly evil, they just combat againist the protaganists idealogy, like saying that the US was the villian to USSR and vice versa, neither was actually evil, but both went againist each others opinions

But a protaginist isnt exactly nice either. A protaganist is the person who is featured most often. And the point of an antagonist is being againist protagonist, not evilness. That would be like saying in "shrek" thst donkey is the main character and shrek is the villian because shrek litteraly raids towns and (possibly) eats humans
