Most cities have public transport like buses, subways, trolleys etc.

In the US, The only cities with good public transport are in the east, like New York or D.C. Many others, like Chicago, have either pubic transport that defeats the idea of public transport, or just terrible public transport that you only use if you are extremely poor. And then, cities in the west, like LA, and suburbs around the country have basically non-existent public transport. (You may have noticed that they are famous for traffic). In most American cities and suburbs, you need a car just to survive

I would like to stress that most does not mean all. You can easily survive without a car in eastern cities like NY

Pick-pockets and perverts. Thank you no.

So how would people who can't afford cars get around?
Anyway, pickpockets and perverts are only on the most crowded bus routes. I have taken a bus to school from 11, and the only time you encounter perverts and pickpockets is when the bus/train doesn't come regularly, and it's crowded enough to make this possible

Uber

Okay, great, everyone hires an Uber to get to work. You can't possibly think that that would work

If a bus rout isn't crowded the route won't stay in service because it won't generate enough revenue to justify having it.

Public transport will never generate enough revenue alone from ticket sales. However, the economic benefit of poor people being able to get where the jobs are without being burdened by the cost of owning a car greatly outweighs the cost of setting up bus or train routes. They need outside funding, but the benefits of having that transport in place more than makes up for that funding.

And you wear a belt with a chain attached to your wallet, I presume, for fashion. Mass transit might work where you live, but it doesn't work all that great where I live. The routes don't reach enough areas; they come by maybe hourly to every two hours, and then stops in the evening. This is no help to people who have to walk a 1-1.5 miles to get to the nearest bus stop such as where I live, which is not a densely populated urban area. And that's assuming the bus stops within a reasonable distance from your destination. Our local transit buses have bicycle racks for people to solve this problem, but this isn't going to be able to replace personal transportation.
