I guess I would agree that Linkin Park & Papa Roach are basically hard rock.. I never really considered them Nu Metal or Metal.

But Limp Bizkit....Hard rock? Idk if I would agree. They have a pretty wide range of styles and idk if any of them are what I would consider hard rock. For example their songs "Pollution", "N 2Gether Now", and "Everything" sound almost nothing alike. And none of them really seem like just straightforward hard rock......... I mean they have an actual DJ in the "band" or group or whatever. I guess I would probably lump Limp Bizkit (at least their first album) in with Korn and the rest of the Nu Metal list on the left.... Even if it IS more Rap influenced, Rap/Metal, Rap/Rock than the others.

Crazy Town I literally only know that "Butterfly" song so I feel weird labeling them anything other than one hit wonder.... But in any case I would not consider that specific song metal. Pop if anything.

I mostly agree with ya. If Limp Bizkit were to be considered a metal band, it should be no more than rap metal. (Not that rap is a bad genre at all, but there is a very thin line between hard rock and heavy metal)

Linkin park and Limp bizkit need to exit the metal scene and admit they're not real metal...

I think Limp Bizkit is more metal than Linkin Park, but I do agree with you.

Depends on what ya like of course, but limp bizkit sounds to much like hip hop/ pop to me. Not to say that's a bad thing. Just not my favorite music.

I agree. I think maybe that's what stuck out to me when I first listened to Limp Bizkit, it was different than what I usually listened to and I enjoyed it.

If Limp Bizkit were to be considered a metal band, they should be categorised as rap metal, not nu metal. Because their mashup of rap and metal music is much more straightforward than say Korn, who did include some rapping, but also groove metal, electronic, funk metal, etc. And Limp Bizkit to me, doesn't sound as 'nu' as others think.

You could definitely classify limp bizkit as rap/metal.

Limp Bizkit is not a nu metal band. They're a RAP metal band.

Nu metal and rap metal have some similarities, but they're NOT the same.

They're not the same, but there's huge crossover between the two subgenres.
When they were popular, limp bizkit was the "flagship" nu metal band, despite their rapping.

But they were "Nu metal" originally. For five minutes during the "nu metal" phase of rock they were the posterboys for "Nu"

At least they got good music, even if their mainstream influences makes it tough to categorize them as metal in the traditional sense.

Crazy Town - pure rap, not even rock (let alone metal)

Linkin Park & Papa Roach, Godsmack - hard rock basically 2000s' AC/DC

Limp Bizkit - somewhere in between (LB can be passed as rap metal should they ever be considered as metal, though IMO they're more hard rock)

Slipknot, Korn, SOAD, Disturbed, Static-X, Dir En Gray, Deftones - metal.

This is how I categorise the nu metal bands.

I still like system of a down, even if it ain't real metal...

Because... avant-garde metal. Basically, metal which is way too weird and zany.
