Interestingly, scientists have actually tried predicting how nuclear war would affect the climate. Because why not?

Smoke from devastating wildfires would blot out the sun’s rays and reduce global temperatures for awhile, sort of like a massive volcano eruption. Of course that would also impact agriculture in a major way and lead to widespread famine, in addition to wrecking the ozone layer, making cancer rates skyrocket along with the radiation fallout and we’re not even talking the millions or billions who’d be incinerated immediately.

Yes. Nuclear war is bad. I'll pretend not to be shocked we agree on something.
In the 6th century they had a "mini nuclear winter." Supposedly, a giant volcano blew up and the resulting ash and dirt in the air caused several years of crop failures, famine & resulting starvation, war & disease.
The results were catastrophic killing as many as 50 million. At the time nearly half the world's population.
There will be no winners in this war. Just terrible losers.
