Way off? Your logic here is insane. I could say the government is raising one group over others on President’s Day, or Veteran’s Day, or when they celebrate Christmas and put out Christmas decorations, not like you’d ever complain about that because you only hate the gays and want to make ridiculous arguments accusing oppressed groups of bigotry.
It isn’t just about current discrimination, although it obviously exists, it’s about the history of LGBTQ repression in the United States. Gay sex used to be criminalized, same for gay marriage. And in fact, if the Supreme Court goes through with their reversal of Roe, these rights are absolutely poised to be overturned as well. LGBTQ kids face significant bullying in schools, you can be fired in about half of the country just for being gay or trans. Gay people are the targets of new state-level legislation, trying to prohibit lessons or discussions about LGBTQ topics or history from the classroom entirely. Teachers are already being fired just for discussing their identity. In some states, they are outlawing gender-affirming care for trans youth, trying to make them use the bathroom according to the gender assigned to them at birth, and prohibiting trans involvement in school sports.
You cannot be so clueless as to what is going on as of late. LGBTQ people are under attack.
