You have to be careful when you are talking about Republican. Mitt is in the majority of the politicians who are Republican. Conservative would be a better words because it is a word that represents the majority of the voting base of the Republican party and a minority of the Republican politicians.

Like with McCain in 2008, a forlorn hope. In fairness to McCain, although he too was a poor candidate, no Republican could have won that year, coming on the heels of a major recession.

McCain was a Rino in "I-Wanna-Reach-Across-the-Aisle-And-Sacrifice-my-conservative-ptinciples" candidate. He practically said that Obummer was a better man than he and I don't know if an acorn, register-dead-people commie versus a sympathetic war hero was.
