True that. And in the UK, the so-called Liberal Democrats suddenly stopped being so liberal and democratic when the Brexit referendum didn't go the way they wanted. This even kinda reminds me of what happened in the IMGFLIP_PRESIDENTS stream. It's a roleplay government community, and in one election cycle a leftist party that called themselves the Libertarian Alliance came into power, but after about a week it was clear they were anything but libertarian. Even in roleplay governments it's the same: liberals don't act so liberal once they get a taste for power.
