The only way to stop racism is weirdly enough to stop talking about it
So please, shut up.

L i s t e n .

Ni##ger is a degrading term that white ppl used on enslaved people.
Cracker is a degrading term that black ppl used on white people because they enslaved black ppl.
There is a difference. Ni##ger has a history- cracker is just... a supposedly rude insult.

so what?

So "ni##ger" is actually r a c i s t , while "cracker" is just rude.

What, are you offended 😐?

The fact that "cracker" is an insult to be used against white people automatically makes that term racist (if you really think that saying one word makes people racist, which I don't).

The history of the word had nothing to do with it now. Both words are used against a particular race. Either both should be censored or neither should be. The only reason the N word is so powerful is because people have given it that power by choosing to be offended by it.

But it's not as s e v e r e . (me either bru)

And the reason people have given it that power by choosing to be offended by it is because of the history. You're not a slaveowner, but if you say that word in public people will look at you like you are. It doesn't matter whether the history is directly tied to the word or not. It is t h e r e , and it'll be hundreds of years till "ni##ger" is normalized.

What does severity have to do with it? Both are used against people simply because of the color of their skin. Racism is severe no matter who you're committing it against.

And if people get offended over a white person saying the N word, that's their fault. Not the fault of the person who said it.

πŸ’€ not really- see, even nOw as I'm talking to you as a poc, I don't understand why you think white folk are entitled to say that word. Severity does matter. You need to understand that yOu, on the social chain, or the highest up there. White male. And you get so many damn privilege's cuz of that. Why would you think "ni##ger" is offensive? You have no reason to, right? Because all you see is a w o r d . And that's where we think differently.

They have a reason to get offended, though.

We both agree that racism is more than just words, which is great. So that means we agree that saying the N word isn't racist since it's just a word. Doesn't matter how many times they say it. What matters is their intentions with it... and their intentions with any word.

Obviously, people are allowed to be offended by the N word, but that is on them.

You don't know anything about me. Quit postulating what you think my life is like simply by looking at my pictures on imgflip.

You literally told me that you think that saying a word doesn't equate to racism. So why should the N word be different?
[deleted] M

I'm telling you the social construct bruh πŸ’€ ain't nothing me or you can do to change the social construct.

U g h . A not-black person saying the N word o n c e , would not make them racist. I can understand that. But if they are using it frequently against black people- then that'd be different.

Don't bring social construct into it. You're bringing it in when all we're talking about is whether the N word should only be reserved for black people or not. I don't need you to tell me what I am like. I'm not doing any of that to you.

Now if what you're saying is their intentions when using the word, then yes. But here's the thing. That could be said with any word... or any action. If intention is all that matters, then I agree. But that applies to everything, not just saying a word. Racism is more than just saying a word to someone.

"The only reason the N word is so powerful is because people have given it that power by choosing to be offended by it." Don't get pressed at me when you were also making a reference to the social construct ._. that sentence is literally blaming society for getting offended at the N word.

O f c o u r s e it's more than a word. But we're not talking about more than a word. Right now, we're talking about a word. So that's irrelevant.

I think this argument is going nowhere, bru. You're not gonna change my mind and I'm not going to be able to change yours. And it doesn't do shit when you're arguing with someone who isn't willing to change their mind .-. I respect your opinions.

I fail to see how me blaming society for getting offended by the N word is the same as you mentioning how my white skin gives me a social privilege. I was talking about the word in that statement, not the social construct you were bringing up.

So you agree that saying the N word is not racist? Good.

Then you blind af bruh πŸ’€ I was explaining how you wouldn't- well- nevermind. Again, you're not gonna bother changing how you think so there's no use.

It's racist if you say it once or twice. I literally just explained this.

If someone wanting to literally say a word equals entitlement, then fine. But no words should be off limits to people just because of the color of their skin.

technically speaking, white people are in some places, since some areas have more black, Asian, or Mexican people then white, making them a minority.
