Remember if the research was legal we'd be doing it here and wouldn't be concerned with it falling into "the wrong hands." As if the Russians don't already have their own research...
If the Russians take over the lab and decide to release this shit over there, will the "ORIGINAL INTENT" of the research save one life? One life?

Except there *is* a big difference between a “bioweapon lab” and a “bio-lab.” Though the words are similar and it’s an easy thing to overlook, it’s the difference between fearmongering and truth. Ukraine has labs and does research and sometimes hosted American researchers, that’s all it is. But now that activity is in Putin’s sights with truth the inevitable casualty.

If Putin doesn’t drop bio-chemical WMDs in Ukraine, then whatever — but if he does, all this kerfuffle is going to look a lot different in hindsight.

And if Putin (who we already know loves bioweapons & dirty tricks...) decides to use the "totally safe and legal" research materials (virus samples & whatever else...) we got in these "totally safe and legal" research facilities?
Remember if anything going on in these labs was above board we wouldn't be shitting our pants full now that it might fall into the hands of a Russians...
The Biden administration (not fux news or whoever...) are the ones who said these labs can't fall into Putin's hands...

I'm confused. Are you or are you not arguing with the fact that the US government lied about the bio labs they have in Ukraine?

Read the Politifact article I linked. Three of the big takeaways:

—There’s a big difference between a “bio lab” and a “bioweapons lab.” To weaponize compounds for war requires scale and certain equipment that Ukraine has never used.
—Every country with a modern healthcare and science system has biolabs, for research and health purposes.
—Science is an international, collaborative endeavor. Have Americans traveled to Ukraine to do research, and vice-versa? Sure.

Like all effective lies, it contains a grain of truth. Boil it down, though, this conspiracy theory is attacking Ukraine for being a modern country and doing science.

Bio & chemical weapons have been used or sponsored by Russia several times recently:

—In Syria, the Russian-allied Assad regime dropped chemical weapons on its own people. If Russia wasn’t directly involved, they sure didn’t stop it.
—Russia has a history of using nerve agents in assassination attempts on ex-spies and dissidents, including most recently Alexei Navalny, the only real opposition figure of note.

On the other hand, Ukraine has never used bio/chemical weapons in its independent history, to my knowledge, and apparently doesn’t even have the capability.

Did Carlson give any of that context on his show? No, he didn’t.

And now fact-checkers across the world have to do it for him, all because he couldn’t parse the difference between “biolab” and “bioweapons lab” before sounding off with his fearmongering on primetime national TV.
