JUST TO BE CLEAR ABOUT HISTORY ...

For well over a century the CONSERVATIVES were in the DEMOCRATIC Party.

In the 1960 Presidential election Jack Kennedy ran to the RIGHT of Richard Nixon.

For instance, in the 1964 and 1972 primaries, Alabama Governor George Wallace ran as a DEMOCRAT.

What happened was that when a LIBERAL **SOUTHERN** DEMOCRAT--Lyndon Johnson--became President, CONSERVATIVES move to the other party--the Republican Party. It didn't happen overnight but it did happen fairly quickly.

===================
REPUBLICAN President Eisenhower:

"Let's have a FEDERAL INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM funded by TAXPAYERS."

It cost TRILLIONS. HE did it for MILITARY purposes--to, if necessary, be able to move personnel, equipment, and supplies rapidly.

The OVERALL result was a HUGE increase in INTERSTATE COMMERCE--creating MILLIONS of jobs and making travel MUCH easier.

---------------------------------
He sent federal troops to enforce integration in an Arkansas public school.

===================
REPUBLICAN President Nixon:

Imposed FEDERAL PRICE CONTROLS to fight severe inflation.

****************************
I MENTION THIS BECAUSE when Republicans talk about being "the Party of Lincoln"--that is when the Republican Party was LIBERAL.
