That's too easy. And too troublesome.
Making the most out of it would mean hurting the US in some way. And he did it.
He got America to get their hands dirty in trying to solve this problem, then he completely f**ked everything over.

And to make things worse, America's even lost the respect it had to sanction someone and break their economy. The EU and U.S threatened Russia with isolation, and the same day, Pakistan's Prime Minister visited Putin for diplomatic ties and didn't even remotely condemn Russia's actions.

Last time America tried to sanction someone, it was Iran.
Couldn't do anything to Iran's economy, and Russia and China openly traded with them.

So a lot's changed for America. Not as big as they were once. What would you blame that on?
