We made the mistake of assuming the peace, freedom, and security our grandfathers fought and died for was our birthright.

They only preserved it to pass on to us. It is now up to us to preserve it for future generations and pass it to them. Freedom, unlike authoritarianism, has to be worked at and fought for, each generation adding their commitment and effort.
