I’m not even gonna repost or provide a link to that brain-rotting nonsense.
Basically, the memer was suggesting that Biden’s “Green New Deal” was somehow a gift to Putin.
First off… the “Green New Deal” isn’t policy. It never would be policy under current Senate rules unless the chamber had roughly 62 Democratic Senators. In concept, the GND is a sweeping plan of green energy/infrastructure improvements, but in light of universal Republican opposition to it, and likely opposition from incurable Democratic “moderates” (i.e. conservatives) like Sens. Manchin and Sinema, it’s so far from becoming policy that it’s laughable.
Even “Build Back Better,” which included some energy and climate goals but not as many as the GND, is dead in the water, thanks again to the McConnell-aligned Sens. Manchin and Sinema.
But let’s go ahead and assume that the memer was referring to the much more modest energy and climate-related goals that the Biden Administration has the power to pursue, acting alone.
Well, it’s plain to see that any effort to build up wind, solar, and other energy sources that break our dependence on fossil fuels generally, and foreign fossil fuels specifically, can only strengthen our resilience against corrupt regimes that have a habit of using their massive oil and gas reserves as a tool of international diplomatic blackmail.
Even if you don’t believe in the science of climate change, if you profess to love American and European strategic independence, democracy and just plain freedom, you oughta support that.
Now: Will that message ever break through the fog of right-wing propaganda and disinformation that is so thick that it has a sizeable chunk of the country convinced that the “Green New Deal” is actually a real thing that is really happening?
I’ll set my watch
