If Vladimir Putin succeeds at locking up all the Neo-Nazis in Russia, dismantles the kleptocratic state he’s spent over two decades establishing, holds free and fair elections in Russia, frees Navalny and stops the attempts on his life, re-opens the internet and the free press generally to his people, ends the government’s white Christian nationalist axis with archconservative elements of the Russian Orthodox Church, renounces warfare as a tool of diplomacy, stops opposing NATO and E.U. expansion in his backyard, stops meddling in U.S. and European elections, and ends its de facto alliance with China and other authoritarian states in Central Asia…
…Then he’d still have to stop persecuting LGBTQ and other minorities, funding brutal repression in Syria and elsewhere across the Middle East, stop using oil and gas exports as a means of diplomatic coercion, stop hacking foreign countries and companies, and stop using Russia’s standing at the U.N. to blockade international efforts at addressing human rights, climate change, poverty, and human betterment in general…
…Maybe then Ukraine will vote to merge with Russia peacefully. :)
