I am for the accelerated phasing out of all coal fired electric power plants, by converting them to natural gas. When solar, wind and other alternatives come on-line, most gas plants could be shut down. Without alternatives being readily available, people will choose to pay higher prices and will align themselves with people who don't care about global warming. The anti-fossil activism of the past few years benefits Gazprom and Vladimir Putin more than anyone. When the anti-fossil activists fail to deliver, their support will fade away.
For the record, this is the same position I took when the Dakota Access Pipeline protests were in full swing.
