Idk. They were from different eggs. I also thought Sky died until I read Dragonslayer cuz there was no mention of Kestral's other dragonet surviving until then.

I think Kestrel told Sky to stay under the water and pretend to be dead and then the river brought him down the river and then he go caught Ina fishing net, and Wren’s village isn’t that far from the palace

No. Kestrel was forced to kill Sky in front of Scarlet, but pretended to and dumped him into the river. She went looking for hi m afterward but couldn’t find him because Wren was hiding him.

Peril is a year older then the dragonets so since Sky is her twin, he is the same age meaning the he isn't part of the prophecy and Kestrel only looked for him because she faked his death and wanted to retrieve him from the river.

Also it is weird that Peril is said female and Sky is said male because they are twins and they have to be the same gender.

Yes but they came from the same egg, meaning they are identical twins, not fraternal twins, so they are supposed to be the same gender.

I guess that would depend on how dragon eggs work. In humans, identical twins are from one egg that splits, but I looked up chickens for a more direct comparison and from what i can see, if a chicken egg has a double yolk, it has two ovum (the equivalent of two human eggs, even though it's inside one chicken egg.) So if dragons work the same way, they'd be more like fraternal twins, despite being inside the same egg.
