I heard that Reddit just removed view count in December 2018, as their information:
As some noticed, we disabled the view count feature because of site performance. The view count feature showed the number of views a post had on the post detail page. Only the OP and mods could see it. After further investigation we've decided to disable the current version of the feature permanently.

But, they only see it in Blog Posts in this information:
Reddit said in a blog post that moderators and post creators on the web will begin to see different post performance insights, including community karma, total post views, total shares and upvote rate. Some 50% of Redditors on desktop currently have access.

And Dani Ishai Behan from Quora says an information about why people never liked Reddit at all:
The downvote feature is the main thing for most people, myself included.

Yes, I know. Most popular websites have a downvote feature. Youtube has one. Twitter kind of/sort of has one. Facebook has several. Even Quora has one.

What makes Reddit’s downvote feature unique is that it punishes users for acquiring too many downvotes. Being downvoted too many times will result in your comments being hidden from view, effectively censoring them. It’ll also drag your karma down; if you lose too much karma, you could be blocked from posting entirely.

But that shouldn’t be a problem insofar as the downvote button is used responsibly, right?

Right.

And therein lies the problem. It’s NOT used responsibly. At all.

Redditors can and will downvote you for any reason, and I do mean ANY reason.

For example…

Your post wasn’t “entertaining” enough
They don’t like your opinions
They don’t like the cut of your jib
They think your question is “stupid”
They have a grudge against you from another thread or channel
More often than not, though, they’ll downvote you just because they can.

Admittedly, some channels are worse than others (gaming and other nerd hobbyist channels tend to be the worst), but it’s a problem all across the board.

Being unpopular, for any reason, is a bannable offense on Reddit.

Unsurprisingly, this makes Reddit a profoundly frustrating and un-fun experience. And if the anecdote I’m about to offer doesn’t drive that point home, I imagine nothing will.

Basically, I was struggling with the controls for the PS4 version of RE4 a few months ago. I wanted to invert the X and Y aiming axis because that’s the style I’m most accustomed to. The menu provided an option to invert the Y-axis, but not the X. I tried looking it up online because maybe I didn’t do it right. Maybe I missed something. Or maybe Capcom just stupidly hid the “invert X-axis” option behind a cheat code or something. Who the f**k knows?

Search engines turned up nothing, so I made a thread on Reddit. I asked if there was an option to invert the X-axis on this game.

I never got an answer. Instead, I got hammered with downvotes to the point that I lost nearly 10 karma.

I was livid. All I did was ask for f**king help with a game. I didn’t insult anyone or shit on their precious toy or anything. It was a simple request for assistance with the controls. That’s it.

I kept my cool long enough to ask why I wasn’t receiving any help and why I was getting pummeled with downvotes for seemingly no reason at all.

I got two responses…

“Your question was stupid. That’s why”.
“F**k u fa660t”. Yes, someone actually responded with this. I shit you not.
Despite this rampant abuse of the downvote button (which basically gives moderation powers to the entire community), Redditors passionately defend its existence and argue that “Reddit wouldn’t be Reddit anymore” without it.

These are the most common arguments levied in its defense…

Without the downvote feature, moderators would have a heavier work load

My response: Too bad? If being a moderator is “too much work”, don’t be a moderator. Simple as that. Give the job to someone else and stop your bitching and moaning.
It filters out “boring”, “low quality” posts

My response: Well, I’m sorry that my posts were “low quality”, but I was only there to get help, not to entertain your pathetic fanboy asses. If you want entertainment, go watch your My Little Pony DVDs or something. Get off the internet. Go outside.
